I'd make it more like the actual character trailers, where the characters are actually invited to participate in the great 'Smash Brothers' tournament from their respective universes (Well, Mario, DK and Metroid are on the same universe, but you get my point!) through letters, like on the Villager trailer, and once they arrive at the tournament, they notice that the usual Master Hand's replaced with Crazy Hand, and all the Nintendo villains are teaming up with Crazy hand to conquer the Nintendo (And SEGA, and Konami, and Capcom, etc.) worlds.
